The examination
We often get asked to provide details about the examination. Clearly, we cannot post information about past questions, but we do provide delegates with example questions that indicate the areas in which the paper may touch upon (although, we stress, they are examples only).
The examination costs £165 plus VAT. Candidates who have not attended an accredited course may sit the exam, but there is an additional cost to assess the application of £110 plus VAT.
The exam lasts three hours and is scheduled four times a year, on a Friday at 1pm. We can arrange an exam to take place anywhere in the UK where there are at least two candidates.
The scheduled dates for 2012 are:
- 27 January
- 27 April
- 27 July
- 26 October
There are three parts to the exam:
- Part A - 20 multiple choice questions worth 20 marks
- Part B - 8 questions worth 40 marks (5 marks each) requiring short form answers
- Part C - 4 questions from 6 worth 40 marks (10 marks each) requiring longer discursive responses. Candidates are encouraged to draw upon their own work experiences or their general knowledge as members of society in addition to the specialist knowledge gained through the course.
A minimum of 50 marks from 100 is required to pass the exam.
Alternative arrangements
We firmly believe that the course and exam should be accessible by all that wish to take advantage of the benefits they offer. With this in mind, we welcome requests for alternative arrangements and reasonable adjustments. We work closely with our facilities teams in each office to ensure that those with specific requirements are accommodated. If you would like to discuss any specific requirements you may have for our course or the exam, please get in touch.
Most recently we have provided a candidate suffering from dyslexia with the examination papers on special coloured paper and another who could not write for long periods access to a laptop and printer.
